Wow. What a time trial. Tadej Pogacar and Primož Roglič have a battle for the ages on La Planche des Belles Filles. Roglič looked so strong this year that most of the world, myself included, expected he'd solidify his lead and claim the yellow jersey today. He did have an outstanding ride, placing 5th, but Pogacar had other plans. Pogacar rides out of his mind, reclaims the 57 seconds he's down, and then extends his lead by another 59 seconds. It was completely unexpected, but maybe it shouldn't have been. Roglič has looked very impressive, but he's also been surrounded by an amazing team sometimes 3-4 riders deep even late in each stage. Pogacar has held second place the entire tour with almost no team support, still managing to take scrappy bits of time here and there. How did we not see it coming? The 21 year-old Pogacar wins the White, Polka-dot, and Yellow jerseys with his spectacular ride. Chapeau!
